party..
sarah beth dialed chance's number. "hey," chance answered. "i have some really bad news," she said. chance waited for her to say what that news was. "what?" "my dad found out that there were going to be drugs at the party from some other parent and so now i can't go to the party," sarah beth said. "that does suck," chance said. "yeah, it does. what are we going to do now?" sarah beth asked. "what do you mean?" chance asked. he kept hearing that we over and over. "i mean, what are we going to do to hang out tonight," sarah beth said. "sarah beth," chance started, "i'm going to the party still." "what?" sarah beth asked. she'd thought the only reason he was going to the party was so that they could hang out. "yeah. i wasn't going to the party just for you," chance explained. sarah beth felt crushed. "excuse me, i actually thought i mattered to you, chance," sarah beth said. "don't be a bitch, sarah beth," chance said. sarah beth laughed, "oh my god! how did i ever like you? a bitch? you're kidding, right?" "sarah beth, i'm going to the party. i was never going just for you," chance told her. "we are over," sarah beth said slowly. "over?" chance asked. "yes, over." "we were never together," chance told her. "even better!" sarah beth said happily. "sarah beth, are you okay?" chance asked. "i'm so incredibly great right now. i don't have to fight with my dad anymore over you. i can just tell him that he's right and that you're an asshole. thanks!" sarah beth said. chance didn't say anything, "i didn't do anything, sarah beth," chance told her. "who cares if you did or didn't? i've realized you're an asshole and i don't need to know anything else." "sarah beth, when you're over this, just call me, okay?" chance said. sarah beth laughed, "goodbye, then. you won't see my name on your caller i.d. anytime soon." she hung up.
