confrontation: big red style

lauren's phone rang now. "hey, big red," she answered. "hey. how was pizza hut?" he asked. "uhm.. we decided not to go," lauren said. "oh. what'd you do then?" big red asked. lauren paused. she didn't exactly know how to answer. "just hung out, you know?" she said. "you had sex?" "yeah." "figured," big red said. lauren laughed, "it kind of sucks cuz we didn't get pizza hut." "that is a downer. at least you got your other vice-sex." lauren laughed, "if you were here, i'd so slap you." "just saying. i think you know it's the truth." lauren rolled her eyes, "whatever, but that is so not the truth. i don't have any vices. all i have are virtuals." big red burst out laughing. "lauren's it's virtues. you said virtuals. i think you might have just proved my point exactly." "okay, so i didn't say it right. that's not the important part. i know what they are, at least. i'm sure you can't say that." "why do you think i'm such a jerk?" big red asked. "i don't. i think you're a player." "i'm not, though. i just think it's easier for you that way," he said. "what way?" lauren asked confused. "if you can convince yourself i'm a player and that i'm bad for you it just makes choosing sweet, innocent brandon all the easier," big red said. "that is not true. i love brandon and no one compares to him. it's not true," she said after hesitating for a while. "okay, just stating my opinion." "it's not a right opinion," lauren said stiffly. "opinion's aren't right or wrong. you can't prove them either way. see, i don't know if you just lied to me. i don't know if you just lied to yourself. it's an opinion and it is neither right nor wrong," big red said. "i've got to get you out of college. you're getting way too smart," lauren said switching topics. "i am, aren't i? you better get used to it though because i'm just going to get smarter and smarter. you're talking to the next einstein," he said allowing her to switch the topic. lauren continued happy to be off the other subject. "you wish."
