Lauren picked up her cell phone and dialed Brandon's number. He answered on the third ring. "Hello," he said. "Hey, Brandon. This is Lauren," she said.
"Yeah, I know."
"Uhm, yeah. I think we should probably talk."
"I'll second that."
"Okay. I'll be over at your apartment in fifteen minutes."
"It's a date."
Lauren smiled, "Bye, Brandon."
"Buh bye."
Lauren arrived at Brandon's apartment exactly thirteen minutes later. He smiled and opened the door for her. They both sat down on the couch. "So, uhm," they both said at the same time.
"You first," Brandon said.
"Okay. I think we both know that things in our relationship have changed. I think we both know that right now we shouldn't be together. I love you so much, Brandon, but I can't have a relationship like this."
Brandon hesitated before nodding, "I know. I agree. I feel like I screwed up everything."
Lauren rolled her eyes, "I feel like I did."
"Well, you didn't," Brandon told her.
"I don't want either of us to point fingers or anything. We both contributed to this. I mean, I could have tried calling you more. I could have not hung out with other guys as much and you could have came over more, called more, and that kind of thing. We both know that."
"Yeah. I just feel really bad, but I know what you're saying and how you feel."
Lauren took a deep breath. "I'll talk to you later?" Lauren said, posing it as a question. "Of course you will," he said. They both got up and he hugged her before she turned and walked out.
