mellisa is laying in her bed alone and she hears the door crawl open. "hey. mellisa, are you awake?" a familiar voice asked. mellisa gripped the sheets closer to herself and turned towards the door. "jerrett?" she asked, her eyes snapping open. "yeah, i came to talk to you," he said. mellisa sat up and said, "sit down." "look, i heard about you rejecting brian," jerrett started. mellisa rolled her eyes, "that's not any of your business, jerrett," she told him. "i know, okay? i'm just saying that i don't mind. i know you broke up with me for him and i don't mind if you just go ahead and date him," jerrett said sitting down by mellisa. she laughed, "jerrett, i didn't tell him no because of you." "you didn't?" he asked, not quite believing her. "no, i didn't." "then why did you, mellisa?" "it's too soon. it's too soon for me. i just feel weird dating him this quickly. i don't think it's right," she said. jerrett nodded, "oh. well, you have my blessing either way." "thanks. that's what i've been aiming for, you know? i live to please jerrett," she said. he laughed, "see, i knew it." mellisa smiled and soon jerrett's face was just inches away from hers. she kissed him and he pushed her back down onto the bed. "jerrett, i can't do this. god, we're not even dating," she said. jerrett just kissed her again, this time on her neck. "jerrett, stop. please, just go. this is not a good time, okay?" she pushed him off of her. "mellisa, stop fighting it. you're single; you're allowed to do whatever you want." "no, i'm not. it's my own personal set of rules that i'm not allowed to do what i just did," she said. he sighed, "you always were so hard to get," he said. mellisa laughed, "whatever, jerrett. i was not hard to get at all. i practically jumped on you." "no, you didn't. you made me work for it." mellisa started to laugh and jerrett joined in. mellisa fell back onto the pillow again. jerrett pulled himself on top of her. "can i stay for a while?" he asked. mellisa sighed, "jerrett, no." "please," jerrett said pouting. "not all night, okay. only for a while," mellisa finally gave in. he laughed, "aye, aye, captain." "shut up," mellisa said pushing him. he leaned in and kissed her again. this time she let him and groaned. "i shouldn't like that." "why not?" he asked. "because i broke up with you, because i told brian that i was over you, because of so many reasons," she said. he pushed a hair back from her face, "well, i don't really care about any of that." "of course you don't, jerrett." jerrett didn't say anything. mellisa rolled him off of her. "i think you should go." he nodded and got up. "jerrett, thanks for your blessing and uhm... those two kisses, they didn't happen." "what kisses?" he asked and then smiled. "i just don't want brian to know. he'd be really mad," she said. "i'll never tell him," jerrett said. mellisa smiled, "thank you so much for that." "you're welcome," he said, walking out of the room.
