mellisa walked into brian's apartment. he was sitting on the couch smiling. he patted the seat neck to him. "sit down," he said. she sat down and played with a string on her shirt for a second. brian turned her face towards him and he kissed her. "i love you, mellisa," he said. "i love you too, brian," she said in between kisses. she pulled back. "mellisa, i want to be with you," he said. "brian," mellisa said cutting him off. "what?" he asked. "we can't be together right now," she said. "why not?" brian asked. "it's so soon. i just broke up with jerrett. i'd feel really bad," mellisa said. "oh. sorry i asked," he said looking down. "no, brian, i'm glad you asked. i just can't accept right now. i wanna be with you too, okay? don't think i don't want that," she said. "i know. it's just that if you want to be with me, you should. you shouldn't worry about what jerrett'll think," brian told her. mellisa took a deep breath. "i know. i just don't think this is the time yet." "well, when will be? what if it isn't the "time" for me then?" he asked. "brian, don't do this, okay? i love you. i love you very much and we will be together soon. i just want to wait a little bit, okay?" she asked. "yeah. of course, i'm doing something wrong." "i didn't say that, okay? don't get mad," mellisa said. "look, you don't want to be with me, okay? i get it," brian said. "i do want to be with you. don't make this difficult, please." "i'm not, okay? look, can you just go?" brian asked. mellisa got up, "brian, don't be mad. i really don't mean anything by it." "just that you don't want to be with me, right?" he said. mellisa sighed, "forget it. you obviously don't respect that decision of mine so i'm going to go." "obviously. bye, mellisa." "this was a waste of time," she said as she opened the door. "back at you." mellisa didn't walk out. she turned around, closed the door, and walked up to brian. "brian, i love you. now is not a good time for me. i feel bad that i had to tell you this, but i thought you could understand," she said. brian nodded, "i'm sorry too. i just feel rejected is all, okay?" mellisa smiled, "i'm sorry, brian. i don't mean to reject you." "well, you kind of did." "no, i didn't," mellisa said. brian nodded, "yeah, you did." she rolled her eyes and kissed him. "stop, mellisa. could you just go?" he said. mellisa narrowed her eyes, "whatever, brian, i was only trying to apologize." brian didn't make eye contact as she walked out of the apartment.
