Mellisa was lying in her bed, awake. She was waiting for the sound of Jerrett coming home. She just had to know if he was with girl or alone. Finally, she heard the door close softly, and she knew he'd came. She closed her eyes and said a quick little prayer that he'd be alone. The door to her room opened and she pressed her eyes together tightly, listening for the sounds of a girl. There were none. Mellisa jumped out of bed and lunged onto him. She wrapped her legs around his waist and her hands around his neck. "Way to give me a heart attack!" Jerrett said. "I'm sorry. I'm just glad you're home." "That glad?" he asked. "Well, honestly, more glad that you're alone than that you're home," Mellisa said. "Ah, I see. You thought I'd be bringing home some girl, huh?" Jerrett asked. Mellisa shrugged, "Only a little bit." "I see how much you think of me. Hey, do you know what's up with Brian? He looked pretty pissed when I came in." "What? Brian's still up?" Mellisa asked. She let go of Jerrett and let her feet find the ground. "Yeah, he's in the living room." Mellisa headed for him. When she found him, he was sitting on the couch, flipping furiously through the channels and muttering. "Brian, what's wrong?" Mellisa asked sitting beside him. "I was going to take Lauren to go ride jet skis, but now Big Red stole my idea and that's what they're doing," he said. "I'm sorry, Brian," Mellisa said putting her hand on his shoulder. He slapped it away. "Listen to me, Brian. I know you and you're one of the most charming guys, okay? All you have to do is come up with something even better than the jet skis idea. And, trust me, you can do that." "No, I can't. That was it. I have no other-" he stopped. "Mellisa, you're brilliant. Thank you!" He got up and kissed Mellisa on the forehead and then headed for his room. Mellisa sighed. "Why'd you do that?" Jerrett asked. "Do what?" "You just somehow gave him a better idea. Do you really want him with Lauren?" Mellisa shrugged, "I want him happy. I don't care who it's with." "But I can tell that you expected something." "Well, yeah. I expected him to tell me his 'great' idea, but I'll find out soon enough," Mellisa said. "Bullshit. You want it to be you and you know it," Jerrett said. "You're wrong, Jerrett." Mellisa walked away and headed back to the bed. "You can lie to me, but you can't lie to yourself!" Jerrett yelled to her. "Whatever!" she yelled back. Jerrett laughed.
