After he and Lauren got done eating at Denny's, Tom dropped Lauren off at her apartment and headed home. Tom was watching TV when he heard his door open. "Tom, baby, guess what I got!" Allyssa said running in and plopping down beside him. "You've really got to learn to knock," Tom told her. "Why would I do that?" she asked. He laughed, "What if Lauren had been here and when you opened the door we'd been having sex? Huh? What then?" "Uhm, ew, Tom." "Oh, so I'm ew now?" he asked. "No, not you. The thought of you and her together is ew." "Well, if you think it's so ew, I'd knock next time." She rolled her eyes, "Fine. Guess what I got, though, please." Tom sighed and turned the TV off, "You're worse than a child, you know that? What'd you get?" "I said guess," Allyssa replied. "Fine. A tiger," Tom said. "Where the hell would I get a tiger?" she asked. "I was only guessing like you told me to. Now, what'd you get?" "That was a pathetic guess. I got this keychain that has a gangster penguin on it. Is that not awesome?" she asked. "Do you really think I would have ever guessed that?" She shrugged, "Maybe." She pulled it out of her pocket and showed it to him. Tom looked at it and then dropped it, taking the key to his apartment in his hand. He began to wound it off. "What are you doing?" "Making sure you knock," he said. "No, Tom!" She grabbed for the keychain but he had already taken off the key. He gave the keychain back to her. "You are such a dick, Tom. Was that necessary?" "Allyssa, don't be mad, baby. I know you, though. You're not going to knock if you don't have to," Tom told her. She rolled her eyes, "God, you're seriously putting her before me, aren't you?" She got up. Tom grabbed her arm, "Allyssa, you know that I love you and you're one of my best friends, but-" "Give me your key," she said holding out her hand. "Why are you being like this, Allyssa?" he asked. "If I'm not going to have your key, then no way in hell are you going to have mine. Give it to me." Tom pulled it off and handed it to her. "When I get mine back, you'll get yours." She turned to walk away. Tom grabbed her hand this time and she turned around. "Tom, I would have knocked. I want you to be happy. I think you know that. I can't believe you're doing this. I've put your girlfriends ahead of our friendship so many times just because you wanted me to. Why are you taking the key away from me now?" Tom sighed, "I know you would have knocked, but I think it'll help Lauren knowing you don't have this. We're just friends, Allyssa." She sighed, "Please give me the key back, Tom. I swear I'll knock and I'll never use it. I just need it." She looked on the verge of tears. "Allyssa, why the hell is it that important?" "I don't know, because it obviously isn't to you." She jerked away from him and left.
