Tom was in the kitchen, drinking some water, when he heard a knock at the door. He glanced at the clock. It was almost midnight. Allyssa, he thought. He opened the door and, sure enough, it was Allyssa. "Hey," she said, walking right in. "Sure, you can come in," he said laughing. "Hey, if I'm not going to have the key, the least you can do is fucking let me in." Tom laughed, "I was just joking with you. Don't get all fiesty." She rolled her eyes, "You wish." Tom shrugged. "You got me." "So, where's your girlfriend, Lauren?" she asked looking around. "Home. Why?" "I don't know. I just thought she was like always here at night." "She usually is. Just not tonight." Allyssa nodded, "Oh okay." She tossed herself onto his couch and grabbed his pillow against her chest. "What's up?" "Oh fuck, I don't know. I just wanted to talk to you. You always make me happy and I just need that right now." "Mason?" Tom asked. Allyssa said nothing. "God, why don't you just give up on him?" "I didn't come over here to hear you give me some goddamn lecture, okay?" Tom laughed, "Why do you take his shit?" "I don't know. I'm stupid?" she asked. "You're not stupid, Allyssa." Tom sat beside her and pulled the pillow away from her chest. "Obviously. I just let people hurt me continuously and then still believe them when they say they love me." "You're not stupid. He makes you happy a lot. I know that. I see you after you hang out with him. He can make you happy." "Yeah, but he can also make so damn mad." Tom laughed, "I can do that." She smiled, "True." "Maybe that says something about your anger issues," he said laughing. Allyssa threw a nearby pillow at his head and he ducked, sending it flying across the room. It landed on the floor quietly. "You are a mess." "Psh, you know you like it." She settled back into the couch comfortably. "What's on TV?" "I think Family Guy," Tom said. "Family Guy was made for insomniacs," Allyssa said changing over to the channel where it was on. Tom propped his feet up on the coffee table and leaned his head back while Allyssa laughed at something that had been said on the show.

About two hours later, Tom woke up on the couch to find Allyssa curled up in the corner, asleep. He got up and took the pillow she was clutching out of her hands. He looked at her for a second, comtemplating whether to wake her up or not. Finally, he decided it best to wake her up. He shook her shoulder. "Allyssa, wake up. Baby, you need to get home." She groaned, "What time is it? Tom?" "It's about two, I think. Yes, this is Tom. You fell asleep on the couch. Come on, get up." She stood up slowly and stumbled for a second. Tom helped lead her to the door. "Be careful," he told her. She shook her head and blinked tiredly. "Goodnight, Allyssa." "Technically," she said smirking, "it's morning." "Even half asleep, you're a smartass." Allyssa laughed, "'Night, Tom." Then she turned around and headed for her house.
